CT Medicare Dental

Medicare Part A offers a very limited amount of dental care. This is limited to coverage in the hospital for emergency or complicated dental procedures. Do not expect Medicare Part A to pay for you to see your dentist for a scheduled visit.

None of the typical dental procedures are covered by Medicare Part A, Medicare Part B or any Medicare Supplement Plan.

Medicare Part A covers hospital and a limited amount of dental expenses, but only in very rare exceptions will it cover anything related to oral health.

Medicare Part B can pay most your medical expenses in your doctor’s office. But it won’t pay for dental treatments.

CT Medicare – Dental Not Covered

The list of treatments not covered includes: dental care, dental procedures, or supplies, like cleanings, fillings, tooth extractions, dentures, dental plates, or other dental devices.

Medicare Supplement plans can cover all or part of much of the deductible, copay and coinsurance costshares isn’t covered by Medicare. Dental expenses are not covered in any significant way and is only covered at all in rare situations.

Some Medicare Advantage Plans (not Medicare Supplement Plans), including some of the $0 monthly premium plans, provide a limited amount of dental benefits. Some will cover one cleaning and one exam per year.

You will only get to hear the high-pitched whirring of a dental drill if you pay for the procedure yourself or purchase a dental insurance policy.

Tooth problems don’t always start and end in the mouth.

If you do not have dental coverage, financial pressure may force you to go without treatment. This could, mean you are unable to properly chew certain foods. In turn, this could lead to malnutrition.

The consequences of poor nutrition could mean you have weaker bones or other medical issues.

Better Dental Insurance for Connecticut Seniors

I hear good feedback from my clients who have dental insurance from Cigna. Their monthly premiums are lower than the other plans I’ve looked at and the coverage is very solid.

Original Medicare offers a limited amount of dental care and no Medicare Supplement provides this coverage. However dental insurance for Connecticut seniors is available from other policies.
